Pastor of Children and Family Ministry

HOURS/WEEK: 40
REPORTS TO: The Pastor of Children and Family will report directly to the Lead Pastor.  The Lead Pastor, assisted by the Leadership Team, will conduct an annual evaluation of job performance and review the level of compensation.
JOB SUMMARY: The position of Pastor of Children and Family Ministry is responsible for leading and supervising all ministry teams for the children and their families at West Ridge Church. This position is responsible for the casting of vision for a vibrant ministry strategy that will cultivate faith and wonder in God that allows for kids to experience God, not just learn about him, in a relevant and relational way.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ as evidenced by spiritual maturity and stability.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited Bible college, university, seminary, or equivalent, with training in children’s pastoral ministry.
  • Ministerial credentials with the General Council and with a recognized district of the Assemblies of God, or a written commitment upon hire to secure credentials.
  • Proven competence and skill in children and family ministry.
  • A history of supervised experience in children and family ministry.
  • Experience as a children’s ministry leader responsible for recruiting, organizing and developing volunteer and leadership teams.
  • Proven experience leading and developing people in leadership and volunteer teams in their continued spiritual development.
  • A high energy leader and team builder with passion for lost people in the community.
  • Strong conflict management and public relation skills.
  • Flexible and calm under pressure and/or in emergency situations.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, independent worker with the leadership skills necessary to engage and lead teams.
  • Experience with strategies for incorporating intercultural, multi-ethnic, and special needs children ministry dynamics.

Code of Conduct and Character

West Ridge Church (WRC) is Pastor-led and staff driven with Leadership Team oversight. WRC staff is considered leaders and ministers of the gospel within the church and community, and therefore agree to the following:
  • Develop and maintain a close personal walk with the Lord including:
  • Daily devotional time with the Lord.
  • Daily dependence on the empowerment of the Spirit.
  • Develop a strong marriage and family life. This includes:
    • Communicating and sharing with your spouse.
    • Spending time together on days off and when extra time is available.
    • Keep personal finances in order with no delinquencies.
  • Attend all regularly scheduled services in the church. Special services and functions will be required as deemed necessary by the Lead Pastor.
  • Maintain a high level of personal integrity, honesty and confidentiality in dealing both with the staff and congregation.
  • Maintain a Christian outlook and attitude at all times.
  • Maintain loyalty to the staff and church, actively promoting unity within the church.
